There will be a door to the bedroom from this study area, then beyond on the terraza. That way we can lock the place up tight but still be able to get to the bedroom.

SmugMug > keywords > construction > Here's the fountain element on the north wall of the swimming pool. Our knees are still knocking about this one because it's either going to be fantastic, or tacky. The rock structure is meant to resemble steps leading up a Mayan pyramid, or perhaps a Guachemontones pyramid. We recently took a day trip to see the mysterious Guachemontones pyramids west of Guadalajara and this stone pattern is how they built theirs. On top of those will be three stellae-sorts of thingys, big panels with Mayan figures etched into them. One will represent Mexico, one Jalisco and one Ajijic. Then, water will trickle over the three panels and down onto the rock. Water will not be going into the pool; the fountain element will have its own water reservoir. We then will plant climbing vines up the back walls, something pretty with colorful flowers. Someday, the back wall will not even be seen it'll have so many vines. We hope!

SmugMug > keywords > construction > This is Dick peeking in from the garden of the other house. We cut this door so that we could enter the property without going out on the street. He seems to be thinking, "And we decided to do all this and why?" When all is done, the ugly steel topper on this wall will be removed, the gate will be widened about six feet so the two properties will flow together, and a cantera cap will be put on top. There will be decorative gates that can be locked there, too. We are not going to continue the pumpkin color on this new side; we're thinking of doing things in reds, sage greens and ... purples. Yes! Purples! You can have lots of fun with color in Mexico.
SmugMug > keywords > construction > As previously explained, wall will look much nicer by the end of the project.
SmugMug > keywords > construction > Back wall of bedroom. There will be a strip of transom windows above this wall so that we'll have the tree-top and mountain view from the bedroom. Also nice for breezes. The side door of the bedroom will step out onto a covered terrace.
