Yasur is billed as the most easily accessible active volcano in the world - from the truck park it's only a 5-10 minute walk up to the crater rim. Spending an evening or two up on the summit watching its Stromboli-like eruptions is unlike anything else I've ever experienced. Highly recommended.

One of the lava bombs exiting off the left of the picture actually flew out over the crater rim - where it landed was only about 50 meters from where I was sitting taking pictures. Yikes!

I realize scale in this shot is a little hard to judge, but the vent from which the lava is being thrown is about 250 meters below me and the lava bombs were going over my head - lets call it 300 meters (or nearly 1000 feet) of vertical spray in this photograph.

My camera was tripod-mounted for this shot - I believe the visible blur in the photo was from the ground the tripod was sitting on shaking, not from me shaking the tripod!
