SmugMug > all-time keyword > joseph > The grave site of Joseph Norton, b. 6 Apr 1762, d 12 Sep 1831. He was a private in the Revolutionary War. After the war he settled locally with his wife Mary Rash and operated a blacksmith shop in Algiers, now downtown Bennington. The inscription on the stone reads as follows: "Died in the 70th year of his age. His toils are all ended, his body at rest. His soul to its maker, who will deal with it just."
