Sailors assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2), amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) and guided missile destroyer USS Curtis Wilbur (DDG 54) arrive at St. Bernard to conduct community service project at St. Bernard Elementary School in southern Leyte. Pacific Ocean (May 5, 2005) Ð Sailors assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer's (LHD 4) Deck Department pull alongside Boxer in a rigid hull inflatable boat to execute a personnel transfer to the guided missile destroyer USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53). Boxer is currently deployed and is scheduled to participate in Exercise Talisman Sabre, a combined exercise between U.S. and Australian forces in the Seventh Fleet. SmugMug > all-time keyword > lhd > Sunset Lightning by the LHD 8,USS Makin Island at the Pascagoula Northrop Grumman Shipyard.The Mississippi Press printed some photos of what they called "Natures Light Show"the day after I took this one(14 July 2008).There were a lot of people at the Pascagoula Beach Point while this was going on.I have been out on the water when a thunderstorm hit,and it is Scary.There have also been some fatalities in the Pascagoula Area from lightning strikes on Boats.
