SmugMug > all-time keyword > orphans > Peace and Love While I was in the poverty stricken coastal town of Esmeraldas, Ecuador, I traveled to the poorest neighborhood with a documentary film crew from Germany. Our crew consisted of two film makers, plus me, and a guide. The film makers had two Sony HD cameras and a Nikon DSLR- one guy used an HD camera, the other used the DSLR. This meant there was one more HD camera with no operator. I gladly volunteered to use the other HD 3 chip, as I have a bit of experience with 3 chip cameras from my days making snowboard and skate videos. Along the way, though I was focusing on getting HD film, I managed to snap a few photos. This stoked these young kids out so much. They were from the casa de chicos de la calle, or street kids home. They were so excited, and took turns looking through the viewfinder while I watched over my shoulder to make sure the Germans didn't come back our way and chastise me for putting a $4000 camera in the hands of orphans.
