SmugMug > all-time keyword > remotely > See, the ROV contains only the basic, generic stuff that's useful for navigation and that's applicable to any mission. They swap different sleds in and out depending on the kind of work that they're doing with the ROV. This photo of a photo shows what the ROV looks like when attached to its sled.

(Really, it's interesting; I stood and listened and asked questions for about 15 minutes. What's cool about the open house is that the people there are actually the ones who work with the ship and equipment.) It also prominently displayed their mascot. I didn't ask her (his?) name.

This one is cool because they're gradually in the process of wiring the Monterey Bay canyon and the ocean floor around it and eventually there could be tens of thousands of miles of cable under the various oceans to help us experience a world that it's hard to put people into.
