DA NANG, Vietnam (Oct. 19, 2007) Ð Mr. Neil Duffin, seated left in front of computer monitor, a surveyor from the Naval Oceanographic Office embarked aboard USNS Bruce C. Heezen, displays hydrographic data to hydrographers from the Vietnamese Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Vietnamese Navy. The data was collected less than two hours earlier during an actual survey operation conducted by one of HeezenÕs two embarked Hydrographic Survey Launch (HSL) vessels. Heezen is making the first-of-its kind technical exchange visit by an oceanographic survey vessel to Vietnam. The purpose of the visit is to familiarize counterparts from VietnamÕs weather and hydrographic agencies, as well as other agencies, with the U.S. NavyÕs hydrographic and oceanographic program and survey vessels.
