January 3, 2010. Warnings!
I can't believe this sign is still here! To the left of this sign there was a huge DIP in the road, but it has since been filled in.
The year is 1973, my senior year. I'm haulin west on 7th street, in my old white, black top Chevy Caprice, which happens to have a 454 motor in it! Yes, that car would run! Hey, dad bought it for me...........he knows! Yes, I know that there are two HUGE dips in this road, but really, I'm not going that fast. Suddenly, I hit the first DIP and I'm airborne! When I land on the other side of the DIP, my old Chevy is hard to steer. I've not a clue what is wrong, but I'm not looking forward to going home and telling mom and dad! So, I head over to a friend that works with dad, Denise Risinger, and ask him to look it over. Well, seems when I hit the DIP, or when I landed, the power steering belt was knocked OFF! Whew! An easy fix. Denise puts the belt back on and I'm on the road again!!
Who knew thirty-seven years later, that same sign would still be there? And that by joining Carol's photomotivation group, who assigned "Warning Signs" as the first motivational assignment would pull this memory into the new year? Don't know if Denise ever told dad about my "flight incident", but I'm guessing not. The DIP is gone, but not the memory of that day.
